About Us

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, we, Russian emerging leaders, Fulbright and YEAR alumni, face severe political persecution at home. Our roles as cultural ambassadors have become impossible to fulfill under the oppressive measures imposed by the Russian government.

In 2024, Russia officially banned all U.S. cultural exchange programs and labeled the organizations administering them as “undesirable.” As a result, many of us find ourselves in an extremely vulnerable situation. If we return to Russia, we risk imprisonment, the loss of civil rights, and enduring significant physical and mental health deterioration due to state surveillance, torture, and employment discrimination—all for participating in prestigious international exchange programs.

We believe that the free world must not stand idle while these individuals —emerging leaders of a post-war, democratic Russia —are targeted by an oppressive regime. Protecting these voices is a moral imperative and a safeguard for global stability. Their ability to lead depends on our collective support and action.

Committed to democratic values and academic freedom, we unequivocally oppose the war in Ukraine. We advocate for peaceful conflict resolution, the respect of internationally recognized borders, and the ability of Russian emerging leaders to work and innovate free from political retribution.
